Karmod constructed the first construction site buildings for Istanbul Airport. We demonstrated our leadership in the prefabricated building sector by installing the first construction site buildings that initiated the construction process of Istanbul Airport (3rd Airport), the world's largest airport in terms of annual passenger transfer capacity. The construction site structures, specially designed and prepared at Karmod's technical office, were used to accommodate the workers and technical team working on the foundation excavation of this massive project, which has a 10.2 billion euro investment budget and an annual capacity of 150 million passengers.

Our mobilization structures, which are the first construction site buildings for the Istanbul 3rd Airport project, consist of a total of 1,810 square meters of construction site buildings and are the first worker camp structures for the project. All the buildings required for a worker camp settlement in airport mobilization, using a combination of prefabricated and container construction site structures, were included.

The prefabricated office building was the first to be constructed for the project. This office building houses the manager's office and the workrooms for the technical office staff. Along with the office, a prefabricated dining hall building with a capacity of 300 people was constructed, which was later used as a training hall after the 1,200-person dining hall building was built. During this process, two two-story container dormitory buildings were constructed. In the later stages of the project, seven separate container dormitory blocks and a new 1,200-person prefabricated cafeteria building mobilization project were added. Other structures in the project, which presented a fully equipped 1,500-person construction site mobilization example, included a construction site health and infirmary building, human resources office, canteen, architect and engineer work offices, laundry room, toilet and shower units, and storage areas.

Istanbul's 3rd Airport at a glance

Istanbul's 3rd airport is being built between the settlements of Akpınar and Yeniköy, located at the junction of Göktürk, Arnavutköy, and Çatalca on the Black Sea coast. It is 35 km away from Yeşilköy Atatürk Airport as the crow flies. The project includes 6 runways, each capable of handling 19 takeoffs or landings per hour. Four of the runways, each 4 km long, will run parallel to the Black Sea, while two will run perpendicular to it. The airport will be able to accommodate takeoffs and landings of the world's largest passenger aircraft, the Boeing 747-800 and Airbus A380, designated with the F code.
