Karmod Produced the First Gold Mine Construction Site Structures in Greenland

We produced construction site structures for a gold mine operation on Greenland, the world's largest island, located in the northern Atlantic Ocean and completely covered by glaciers. The standout feature of this construction site project, which utilizes a new generation container model, is that it will be used in Greenland's first gold mine. As you may recall, gold was discovered for the first time on the island in early 2012 as a result of mining exploration in the South Greenland region. The exploration covered a 90 km area from the southern discovery point to the north, reaching an extensive gold belt within the mountain remains.

Following this discovery in South Greenland, work began to extract the found gold. In this context, Karmod's new generation container structures became the preferred choice for the Greenland gold mine site. Within the scope of the project, 42 230x600 container units were produced in a short time at Karmod's modern facilities. The structures, prepared with a fully demountable package system using the new generation container model, were shipped to Greenland by sea container transport. Transported from the port to their destination by road, the structures were quickly assembled thanks to the advantages offered by the bolt and nut system. The structures, assembled in a short time, were made available for use by the construction site personnel.

The new generation Karmod container structures used at the Greenland mine site included units such as management offices, dormitory and dining hall buildings, and laboratories. Greenland's average temperature of -7 ⁰C was also taken into special consideration in the production of the container construction site structures. Extra insulation was applied during production, taking into account the sub-freezing conditions at the site. This special application makes it easy to climate control the construction site container structures. Karmod's new generation containers feature a sandwich panel system from wall to roof. This system allows them to be used safely even in the harshest climates. During the assembly phase, special seals are applied to the joints of the sandwich panels on specially painted metal frames, completely preventing air circulation. Special doors and double-glazed windows completely seal the structure against air passage. The special clamping system applied at the joints of the roof sandwich panels completely prevents water ingress into the roof, making the structure completely leak-proof.

Karmod's new generation container construction site structures will serve for many years in gold mining areas. With their structural safety, resistance to harsh field conditions, and superior insulation, they will provide a warm environment at the construction site at all times.

Greenland is the world's largest island, mostly covered by glaciers. Greenland is a region under the Kingdom of Denmark with autonomous administration. The island is located east of the Canadian Arctic Islands. Greenland has an average temperature of -7°C and a dry, sunny climate. Winters are extremely cold. Even in summer, temperatures in ice-covered areas hover around freezing.
